DESCRIPTION:
APW - Columbus, Columbus King with rare angled train dial, 17J, 18S, gold-filled HC recase, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#367746. The dial of this watch features a scene of a train passing in front of a lake set in a mountainous landscape, and the front of the locomotive is marked "New Columbus King" with watch style hour and minute hands dividing the mid-point of this marking. These angled train dials are very scarce and were paired with some of the late 17 jewel examples of the Columbus King and Columbus Railway King grades. This same dial style was used for both of these grades, though the dials paired with "Columbus King" movements had the word "Railway" polished off so as to match the movement marking and the remains of the word "Railway" often remain evident as seen with this example.
